Walter E. Stern Selected NREEL Lawyer of the Year
The Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law (NREEL) Section of the State Bar of New Mexico selected Walter E. Stern as the recipient of the inaugural NREEL Lawyer of the Year Award. The Awards Committee, comprised of members of the section’s Board of Directors, recognized Walter from among his peers for his outstanding contributions in the areas of natural resources, energy and environmental law. The award presentation was held at Seasons Rotisserie & Grill on December 5, 2014.
Walter’s practice is focused on natural resources, energy and environmental law. For more than 30 years, he has provided representation, advice and counsel to businesses and individuals in their dealings with Indian tribes and public land management agencies. He has been recognized for excellence by his peers in publications such as Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America®, Southwest Super Lawyers® and Martindale-Hubbell. Walter serves as President of Modrall Sperling and Chair of the Executive Committee. In addition, he serves on the Board of Trustees of the Albuquerque Academy (former Chair) and the Albuquerque Community Foundation. He previously served as President of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and Chair of the State Bar of New Mexico NREEL section.
